Boundary Road Site Restoration

Parks Canada would like to provide an update on construction activities at the Boundary Road site on the Talbot River, near Bolsover, Ontario.

Construction activities resumed on site on April 28, 2026, with the installation of environmental protection measures, including turtle exclusion fencing to prevent nesting within the active construction zone. The contractor will return to the site on May 19, 2026, to resume non-roadway construction activities following the Victoria Day long weekend.

Roadway restoration work is now anticipated to occur between May 26 and June 12, 2026, pending approval of temporary roadway occupancy permits. This will require daily lane closures from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday, on Simcoe Street, Mara Eldon Boundary Road and Canal Road. While no road closures are anticipated, delays can be expected. Further, access to the Talbot Drive private laneway from Simcoe Street may be limited for larger trucks due to working space requirements within the narrow roadway.

Roadway works are being planned to minimize instances where both sides of the river are being worked on at the same time, where possible. Existing asphalt surfaces will be removed, and roadways will temporarily remain in a gravel condition until paved. Parks Canada anticipates minor traffic disruptions during this phase of work and appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as work progresses.

The project will employ a naturalization approach to site restoration, planting native tree species and pollinator-friendly vegetation in areas formerly occupied by roadway infrastructure. All construction activities are expected to be completed by the end of July 2026.
