FORT MALDEN NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE GATES CLOSED FOR SEASON

AMHERSTBURG, ONTARIO, December 19, 2025 – The gate at Fort Malden Dr. and Dalhousie St. as well as the gate next to the Fort Malden Visitor Centre will be closed for the season beginning December 19, 2025. The gates will remain closed until spring 2026.  

Visitor safety is of utmost importance to Parks Canada. The gates are being closed as some visitor infrastructure will not be regularly maintained during the off season. 

Cultural resources are irreplaceable and connect us with the places, persons and events that have shaped history in Canada. Parks Canada is privileged in its role as the steward of outstanding cultural and natural treasures that represent the richness and diversity of Canada. Visitors are reminded that activities such as biking or sledding may negatively impact the cultural resources at Fort Malden National Historic Site and are not permitted at the site. 

Parks Canada thanks the community for a great 2025 season. We look forward to welcoming visitors back in the spring.
