Remembering Alexander Graham Bell

Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site

Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time

Excerpt from the poem A Psalm of Life; by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow; a favourite of Bell’s which was read at his funeral.

Join us in remembering and celebrating the extraordinary life and legacy of Alexander Graham Bell from the comfort of your chair. Watch our interpreters take the stage in a scripted play that demonstrates the rich heritage and history of Cape Breton Island and the role it played in Bell’s life and experiments. Listen to stories about Alec and Mabel’s time at Beinn Bhreagh, tap your feet in time with local music, and view historic images on the big screen.

This play takes place in the Alexander Graham Bell Presentation Hall, which is accessible via a series of ramps and offers flexible seating arrangements.
