Choose from eight historic-themed activities including North-West Mounted Police training drills, Victorian-era etiquette lessons, and fur trade inspired fun and games.

Step 1: Choose your activities

Choose two (2) activity options:

North West Mounted Police Drill

Dress up as members of the North-West Mounted Police and participate in a series of drill activities while discovering how this police force trained at Lower Fort Garry in 1873.

Etiquette Lessons

Remove your hat and stand up straight! Practice your poise and posture, and try to pass a Victorian etiquette lesson.

Fur Trade Games

Do you have what it takes to make it as a fur trade labourer? Try your hand at a number of historical games testing both your strength and agility.

Croquet & Trundling

Get outside and practice your 18th-century gaming skills! Enjoy a game of croquet, similar to modern-day mini golf, in the warm sun. Give trundling a try, see if you can keep the wide wooden hoop rolling as you run beside it.

Relay Race

Run, crawl, jump and hop! Challenge your friends to see who will be the first to finish this obstacle course made up of bales of fur, wheelbarrows, brooms and more.

Fur Identification

Can you tell the difference between a mink and a muskrat pelt? Take a trip to the Fur Loft and put your animal knowledge to the test.

Learn how people built homes back in the old days. Try your hand at building mini versions of Indigenous tipis and Red River frame houses.

Letter Writing

How did people communicate before texting? Learn how to catch up with friends and family the old-fashioned way—handwritten letters! With a traditional ink and nib pen you can wish your friend a happy birthday or hand-deliver a letter to one of the historic characters on site!
