With loads of hands-on historic activities suited to all ages, Lower Fort Garry is the perfect place to hold an unforgettable birthday party for your child! Let us sweep you and your invited guests back in time with our fully-customizable birthday party offer that promises to engage, entertain and educate. Choose from eight historic-themed activities including North-West Mounted Police training drills, Victorian-era etiquette lessons, and fur trade inspired fun and games.

North West Mounted Police Drill
Dress up as members of the North-West Mounted Police and participate in a series of drill activities while discovering how this police force trained at Lower Fort Garry in 1873.Etiquette Lessons
Remove your hat and stand up straight! Practice your poise and posture, and try to pass a Victorian etiquette lesson.Fur Trade Games
Do you have what it takes to make it as a fur trade labourer? Try your hand at a number of historical games testing both your strength and agility.Croquet & Trundling
Get outside and practice your 18th-century gaming skills! Enjoy a game of croquet, similar to modern-day mini golf, in the warm sun. Give trundling a try, see if you can keep the wide wooden hoop rolling as you run beside it.Relay Race
Run, crawl, jump and hop! Challenge your friends to see who will be the first to finish this obstacle course made up of bales of fur, wheelbarrows, brooms and more.Fur Identification
Can you tell the difference between a mink and a muskrat pelt? Take a trip to the Fur Loft and put your animal knowledge to the test.Build-a-Fort
Learn how people built homes back in the old days. Try your hand at building mini versions of Indigenous tipis and Red River frame houses.Letter Writing
How did people communicate before texting? Learn how to catch up with friends and family the old-fashioned way—handwritten letters! With a traditional ink and nib pen you can wish your friend a happy birthday or hand-deliver a letter to one of the historic characters on site!Choose one (1) traditional treat to bake from scratch:

- Availability: Due to COVID-19, parties, weddings and venue rentals are not being offered at this time. Please check back for future updates.
- Length: Birthday parties at Lower Fort Garry include two hours of scheduled programming, and an additional 30 minutes allotted afterwards for cake (provided by you) and presents
- Group size: Up to 12 children – including birthday child. Larger groups may be accommodated, however price may vary, call 204-785-6050 for a quote.
- Recommended ages: 6 – 12 years old
- Cost: $161.70
